Step 1: Change your PilotPoster Timezone

First step is to change your timezone in your PilotPoster account to make sure your postings work fine on your time.

Go to Settings > General Settings and select your timezone in the Timezone field and click save changes.

Steps 2: Go to Manage Accounts Page on PilotPoster

Go to Facebook > Manage Accounts page on PilotPoster to add your Facebook account to the app.

Click on the + icon to add your Facebook account. You’ll see the below window.

Step 3: Connect Your Facebook Account to PilotPoster

PilotPoster connects to your Facebook account as a mobile device. So Facebook doesn’t detect you are using any automation tool and to them, it looks like you are posting from your Android or iPhone mobile device.

When you log in to your Facebook account from a new IP address, sometimes they would prevent you from logging in from the new IP because they think someone else might be trying to access your account. So to prevent this issue, we have 3 options to connect your Facebook account to PilotPoster.

Option 1: Connect through default method

With this method, simply put your Facebook email and password in the above-shown window on the add account page and click Submit button.

NOTE: Before you can click the Submit button, you need to add your PilotPoster Secret Key in the field above where it says to enter the secret key. Your secret key would be included in the initial setup email you received.

Make sure to select a Device type from the dropdown. It’s better to select a device you usually login from. If you use an iPhone to use your Facebook account usually, choose iPhone or choose Android if you use Android.

If all goes well, you should see this success window:

If for some reason you get an error, you can try the alternate methods as explained below;

Option 2: Connect through alternate method

In this method, you should add your email and password details as usual and then check the Download Token with my IP checkbox before clicking the submit button.

Doing that will download an image file to your computer named something like 4747474.jpg

Rename the file by changing the extension from jpg to txt, so 4747474.jpg should become 4747474.txt.

Now open that text file and you will see your session data, out of this data, you need to just copy your access token like this:

After you’ve got this access token, add it into access token field on PilotPoster and click Add Facebook account button.

If you get any errors with this method too, here’s 3rd method for you.

Option 3: Connect through Chrome extension

Add this Chrome extension to your Chrome browser: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/get-facebook-access-token/coaoigakadjdinfmepjlhfiichelcjpn

After you open that extension on Chrome, it should be looking like this:

Just add your password, select platform (Android or iPhone based on which device you usually login from) and click Generate.

This will generate a token in the below field. Just copy that and add into PilotPoster as explained in the Option 2.

Rarely for some accounts, Facebook might not allow you to login and ask you to change your password because they think it’s not you who is trying to log in. In that case, first change your password on Facebook and then do any of the method again and it should work.

If you still have any issues, you can contact us anytime.

That’s it. Your Facebook account is connected!

UPDATE (15-04-2017):

You’re advised to Authenticate HTC Sense and Set as Default App for a Better Posting Experience. Click Here on how to Authenticate

Note: If you have issues getting Access Token for Apps, Check this Article

One of the two notifications you get as a new user of Pilot Poster is that you have not selected the default application for your account. You can only post to groups with the apps that you have authenticated. And we recommend authenticating as many as possible so you can be switching from time to time.

The list of applications will always be updated by Team Pilot Poster. To ensure safety and avoid ban, we’ll be updating the apps list to give more freshness to posts from our system. So don’t be surprised when you don’t see some apps you’ve authenticated or when you see new apps. We’ll always put YOU first.

Now that you have added your Facebook account and you have authenticated your apps, it is time to prepare your account for the first post. There are some things that must be in place for you to start using Pilot Poster, and they are;

1. Setting your Time Zone

If your time zone is not set, you might discover that your (local) time is different from the server time when you want to schedule a post. And this might lead to you posting at the wrong time, which might not meet what you have planned.

This article is mostly concern with these three options;

  • Show Open Groups Only: This is a unique feature that enables you to hide all the CLOSED and SECRET Facebook books on your list. Leaving you with only the OPEN groups. Open groups allow you to post without direct to the group walls without the group admin having to moderate what you have posted. This tools is great for those who wants their posts to get directly to the targeted audience quickly.
  • Unique Posts: This adds a unique id to each post posted to every Facebook group. This is a feature that protects you from getting banned by facebook because with unique post and your interval well set, you will be invincible to the Facebook spam bot from discovering that you are running an auto poster to post to the Facebook groups.
  • Unique Link: This is almost the same as the Unique posts, the only difference is that unique link adds a unique link to all your links which still points to the same destination. This prevents Facebook from banning or flagging your link. This tool is great for those promoting affiliate links, website or blog post.

Note: Use Google Chrome Browser ONLY!

Facebook announced it’ll be deprecating Graph API 2.3 on the 10th of July, which it actually deprecated on the said date.

The implication of this is that Pilot Poster can no longer fetch your groups automatically using Graph API. Fortunately, this came at a time we were about launching Pilot Poster 3, so we had to delay the launching to integrate a new method of fetching groups.

Watch the video below to learn how you can import all your Facebook groups;

Method 2 – Using Facebook for iPhone App

If you are unable to load your groups using HTML file method above, please try the alternative method here;

User must verify their account on www.facebook.com (405)

If you’re trying to connect your Facebook account with PilotPoster and getting this error,  that means Facebook is blocking PilotPoster from logging into your account.

This is a normal thing. When someone tried to log in to your Facebook account from different location, this happens as a safety measure because Facebook thinks someone is logging to your account without your permission.

In some locations, the login security is more rigorous than others.

To resolve this issue, the best way is to generate access token on your local computer so you can get access token on your computer with your local IP and add it to PilotPoster to connect your account.

This would be possible to do with the PilotPoster Access Token Generator app.

Follow the steps to connect your Facebook account to PilotPoster:

1. Contact PilotPoster Support and let us know your operating system and we’ll send you the download link for the desktop application for your operating system.

It’s only provided to Paid customers to protect the system.

2. Open the desktop application and it should look something like this:

PilotPoster Access Token Generator

3. Enter your FB email address and password in respective fields and click the Generate Token button. It’ll generate your accounts access token in a few seconds.

4. Click the copy button or select the token from the box and copy it.

Note: Please do not share your access token with anyone.

5. Go to PilotPoster App > Facebook > Manage Accounts and add the copied access token in the access token field as shown below.

After that, click on the Add Facebook account button and your account will be successfully added to your PilotPoster account.
